Becca Guerra Joins Civitas as Senior Associate

NEW YORK – Civitas Public Affairs Group announced today that Becca Guerra, former head of State Voices Florida is joining the firm’s New York office as a senior associate.

“Becca has proven she knows how to make real and substantive progress at the state level,” said Katherine Grainger, Civitas principal and managing director of the New York office. “Civitas continues to expand its expertise in the states and Becca’s on-the-ground experience and commitment to furthering the rights of women and people of color will be a great asset to our clients doing targeted work at the state level.”

Most recently, Becca served as the executive director of the Florida 501(c)(3) Civic Engagement Table, Florida’s affiliate of State Voices. Prior to her role leading Florida’s largest voter registration and civic engagement programs, she served as the deputy director of ProGeorgia, the Georgia affiliate of State Voices. She has worked for the NAACP as a regional organizer and regional director across the South and Mid-Atlantic regions where she was responsible for civic engagement and community-based organizing. Becca also conducted grassroots organizing at NARAL Pro-Choice America and America Votes.

“I do the work that I do because I believe that all people should have an equal voice in our democracy. Working extensively on civic engagement in the South, I have seen first-hand how systems are put in place to keep this from occurring,” said Guerra. “I chose to join Civitas because they know how to build campaigns that not only win, but create lasting change. They are smart political strategists, with a value set that aligns with mine and I am thrilled to join the team.”

“Becca is a strategic thinker with an ability to build authentic alliances across communities,” said Derrick Johnson, Interim President and CEO of the NAACP, “I’m grateful to have had her on my team and look forward to seeing Becca continue to do impactful work at Civitas.”

“Civitas continues to build our team of smart, passionate operatives with deep knowledge and strategic political relationships across the country. Becca’s strong leadership experience in a major battleground state makes her a valuable addition to our team and our important client work,” said Bill Smith and Patrick Guerriero, the founding partners of Civitas.

A proud Floridian, Becca has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is also fluent in Spanish.
