Jessica Post Joins Civitas as Principal
WASHINGTON—Civitas Public Affairs Group announced today that Jessica Post, one of the country’s leading campaign strategists with an expansive network of relationships with political leaders and elected officials nationwide, is joining the firm as a principal. She will leverage her extensive campaign and advocacy experience and national network to drive campaigns and initiatives for Civitas’ clients from the Washington, DC office.
Prior to joining Civitas, as President of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC)—the Democratic Party’s official campaign arm for state legislative races—Jessica designed the successful national strategy to build eight new Democratic majorities in state legislatures. During her eight-year tenure leading the DLCC, she recruited and elected hundreds of state legislators in chambers across the country while more than tripling the organization’s budget to $60 million per election cycle.
“Jessica transformed the DLCC into a powerhouse, impacting state legislatures nationwide,” said Civitas Managing Partner Katherine Grainger. “Her deep relationships with elected leaders across the country, along with her work ethic and values, will enable Civitas to bring even more value to our clients.”
“Over the last decade, I have seen first-hand the repeated successes that Civitas has delivered to its clients,” said Post. “Civitas touches nearly every major political and social issue facing our nation today and brings excellence to every project. I’m honored to join this firm.”
Jessica’s extensive background includes work at the intersection of national politics, advocacy, and organizing. During her time with the DLCC—where she served in multiple capacities for over a decade, including as President, National Field Director, and Political Director—the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) recognized her as one of the 40 best and brightest campaign professionals under 40 years old. Campaigns & Elections magazine named her a Rising Star for innovation in grassroots organizing.
She is a go-to expert on state legislatures and is regularly quoted in national and state publications and programs, including the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, US News and World Report, USA Today, Associated Press, Politico, The Hill, Time, The Atlantic, National Public Radio, PBS NewsHour, CNN, MSNBC, and Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien.
Post has also been a frequent panelist, trainer, and presenter. Each year, she guest lectures at the American University Campaign Management Institute and provides training for political staff nationwide on running strategic and data-driven campaigns. She has also presented at George Washington University, Netroots Nation, Harvard Law School, and the Sundance Film Festival.
Jessica is a Missouri native and a graduate of Truman State University. She lives in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog.
